22.10.22 Family History Workshop 1.30-5pm
The museum is very proud to announce that we will be working in partnership with the Gwynedd Family History Society (CHTGFHS) to hold this special event .Included in the programme are talks on traditional methods of research, online resources and the use of DNA, top-tips from experience, research literature by the CHTGFHS and others, and a chance to discuss with others. We will also have a small exhibition - a sample of our busy volunteer genealogist Gwerfyl Gregory, who kindly helps the museum with numerous enquiries.

The talks will be in Welsh, but all are welcome to attend.
PS : one lucky participant will receive a DNA kit in our free to enter draw!

If you're looking for somewhere to bring your toddler to make a noise, this is it ! Come and sing along, as we rediscover some favourite nursery songs. Learn a Welsh song ! (Some even have the same tune). Words provided, but you can also choose a song to sing...
Morio canu is a project provided by the Museum with grant aid from Mantell Gwynedd. We seek to bring people together with singing, 'making a joyful noise' . Sessions are broadly thematic and open to all .
Other sessions will include songs from the second world war, Beatles, and the movies, and whatever other ideas you have, please contribute !

Yes, we've extended our season into September - and very pleased to welcom Berian Elias from the National Library to show the treasures of our past that are being digitalised for the future. Although in Welsh, you'll enjoy the wonderful collection of images on our large screen.

26.07.22 The new Women of the Sea exhibition is now open
The new Women of the Sea exhibition is now open! It was opened officially by Elinor Ellis, the daughter of Moraned Williams, born on the sailing ship Langdale in 1909, and Ellen Owen, one of the women on the films, was her great great aunt.
04.08.22 Talk by Dr Duncan Cameron
Our 2022 Season of interesting talks begins with a virtual guided tour to the famous north Wales Pilgrims' Way, a medieval route running from Basingwerk Abbey to Bardsey Isle (Ynys Enlli, the burial place of 20,000 saints). Dr Duncan Cameron has many years' experience of working and walking this route, and will guide us through its history and highlights from the comfort of the museum!

Women's history is only just beginning to be told, and we are determined to play our part. We have two lectures (in Welsh) on womens' role in society, and will soon have a new permanent exhibition on the lives of five remarkable local women.

This Museum is proud to announce that we are in the finishing stages of preparing an exhibition on the Blue Funnel Line, also known as the unofficial Welsh Navy (and the Blue Flue). You must come and see it! Further details tbc. soon.
13.04.22 Scoop for our Museum!
We will be hosting our next zoom meeting on Wednesday 13th April. Our guest speaker is Julian Richards, archaeologist, writer and broadcaster, best known for his BBC TV series ‘Meet the Ancestors’. Julian has studied Stonehenge and its landscape for over 40 years and is the author of the current guidebook to the monument as well as other English Heritage publications. The curator of exhibitions about Stonehenge in Britain, Austria and Germany, Julian will explore Stonehenge and how our understanding of this world-famous site has changed over the centuries. In trying to answer the questions of how Stonehenge was built and, the most difficult, why? the latest theories will be explored (and sometimes dismissed !).

A walk to our local beach at low tide to search for treasures, and hear some stories of our maritime past. Bring a packed lunch to eat back at the museum as we discuss and record our nature finds. £2 to include a drink. This event is with Antur Natur expert Anita Daimond.
